Your posture, facial expression, eye contact, non-verbal language speak louder than words. People ‘listen’ to body language more than the spoken words. Up to 93 per cent of communication effectiveness is determined by non-verbal behavior. If you want to mask your true feelings or your immediate reaction to information, then you must be aware of your body language. You may have your voice and words under control but your body language, including micro facial expressions and movement, can give your true thoughts and feelings away. Therefore make sure that when you want to convey a message your body language is congruent with your words in order to give a clear impression and message.
If you are unsure what your boss is conveying to you due to in-congruence of body language and words, then ask questions or repeat back what you believe he or she actually means so as to clarify the situation.
