A good virtual assistant is an amazing help to your online business and can be the difference between stagnant profits and huge growth. Many entrepreneurs can’t survive without them. However, sometimes there are problems that need to be resolved in order for your VA to be the valuable asset you need.
When you are listening to someone it is appropriate to listen for at least 80 per cent of the time and speak for 20 per cent. You will speak to clarify your understanding, to show you are listening by paraphrasing, and when the other person asks you for an answer.
E-mails are easy to send but so difficult to retrieve (if at all), and when writing them you should carefully consider the tone and message conveyed. They must be professional, with correct grammar and spelling.
Tip from Sue Robson: ‘When bosses arrive at the office, either first thing in the morning or when returning from meetings, don’t stop them as they pass your desk to give them their messages and so on. Give them a few minutes to settle in instead of demanding immediate attention. They may have other things on their minds before they are ready to see you.’
Be prepared to experience a sense of loss with this transition. Although this may be an exciting and much anticipated change, it is still a change and with change comes feelings of uncertainty.
